Do the plants die down?

Iris plants are evergreen. However in the winter months iris foliage will brown off if exposed to frost and wind. Daylilies can be evergreen, semi-dormant or dormant.

Details are listed on each of our daylily items.

How long can my iris rhizomes be left out of the ground?

Ideally your iris rhizomes should be replanted immediately after lifting. However, being very tough plants they can be left out of the ground in a cool, day place for several weeks provided they are kept completely dry.

This is what makes bearded iris very suitable plants to post.
