Firstly a huge thank you to all who visited us this month – it was lovely to meet so many people who share our love of irises, and to show them our beautiful display this year. We think the irises have flowered better this year, and our quirky ‘flates’ received lots of comment.
While looking out over the irises, we were reflecting on the year past, and thought others might also be interested to see which irises have been our most popular throughout the year.
Taking out the prize for most popular Tall Bearded Iris has been Jesse’s Song with over 50 being purchased for the year. Not only is it a magnificent looking iris, it is also a very good multiplier. Since our Open Weekend, there are unfortunately no more available at the moment.
Interestingly, our top Median Iris seller was Bold Print, which has a similar colour pattern to Jesse’s Song. Again, over 50 plants have been sold since this time last year. There are lots of Bold Print still available.
The gong for the dwarf irises goes to For Fun. Once again, a similar colour theme to the other winners. For Fun is another very good ‘doer’ with over 60 being sold for the year. There are still lots of For Fun available.
It’s difficult to pick a stand out for the Day Lilies as many of them sell equally well. Some of the more popular have been Time Lord, Mary Helen and My Children which have all sold 13 times during the year.
I’ll be introducing some more fun facts and statistics in the next blurb, so keep an eye out!
Happy gardening
Margie
