New Owner - Annabel Hanna Sunshine Iris and Daylily Nursery

New Owner - Annabel Hanna

We’re thrilled to share that the nursery is in great hands with a passionate new gardener ready to continue the Sunshine Iris story! Annabel Hanna is stepping in with enthusiasm and a green thumb and has already begun replanting our beautiful irises and day lilies at her property in the western Riverina. We’re confident that Annabel will not only carry on the legacy, but will also grow Sunshine Iris into an even more vibrant and flourishing business. We would like to sincerely thank all who have supported us over the years and can’t wait for you to join Annabel on this next chapter of the journey - here’s to more colour and joy in your gardens.

New owner sunshine iris, full sun growing conditions

Sunshine Iris has always been about named and labelled plants, with a focus on iris varieties suited to Australian gardens. Many bearded irises prefer full sun and well drained good garden soil, while some will also perform in half-day shade. They are generally tolerant of dry conditions and do best in neutral to basic soils, rather than rich conditions or swampy conditions.

Annabel’s replanting plans will continue that tradition, with a range of plants chosen for hardy, garden-ready performance. Iris varieties are often grown in relatively inorganic soils and are best avoided in areas that stay wet for long periods, as they are intolerant of swampy conditions.

Whether you are starting a new iris bed or adding companion planting plants, Sunshine Iris will keep offering a specialist selection for gardeners looking for varieties with strong colour, reliable growth and very late bloom in some types. Mandy and Margie
